The combination of Lego’s famed building pieces and BMW’s technical ability has resulted in a trailblazing model transcending imagination.

The Lego-BMW partnership not only focuses on innovation but also contributes to Cleantech initiatives. By ingeniously recycling Lego’s 603-part tiny replica kit, BMW has made the dream a reality. In an insightful interview, LEGO Technic designers Aurélien Rouffiange and Samuel Tacchi shed light on the unique collaboration. Aurélien emphasizes, “Normally in LEGO Technic, we capture what the partner is doing, then we make a representation…but this time, we pushed it to the next level by creating something conceptual: the bike of the future.”



Samuel adds, “It was the first time in the LEGO Group’s history we saw a partner creating a real version of the LEGO model.” The designers acknowledge challenges in designing functions that don’t exist in the real world, highlighting the importance of authenticity and plausibility.

Regulatory Hurdles 

Concerns about safety and limitations imposed by regulations pose major challenges for the hoverbike industry. For the notion of hoverbikes flying through the air in the future to proceed from concept to actual implementation as easily as possible, a lot of challenges need to be resolved.

Technologies plans to debut a new model in the same year, further demonstrating its dedication to electric-powered flight, in line with this schedule.

Mileage and Performance of Hoverbikes

While details about the vehicle are still sketchy, the company is planning an electric version that can reach speeds of 200 km/h (124 mph). Interestingly, preliminary reports suggest that the hoverbike might reach a maximum height of just 50 cm (19 in) above ground, however, this could be altered in further testing.

In a move similar to Tesla’s successful strategy, A.L.I. Technologies is aiming its products at the well-off before broadening their appeal. There will be a limited run of 100 units available in the initial model, which uses a hybrid-electric power source and could cost between $300,000 and $500,000 USD.

How Accessible Will These Hoverbikes Be for All?

The business plans to switch to an all-electric aircraft in serial production when the market is established, and they see more inexpensive versions ranging from $80,000.00 USD to $120,000.00 USD.
